One night while my husband was at work, I was in the kitchen making dinner. My ten-year-old son sat at the island doing his homework, telling me about all the interesting things he had learned at school that day.
He looked up from his book and said, "Hey Mom, this is really cool. It says that a supernova is a star that builds up pressure until it bursts and then shines a million times brighter than the sun… like shiny stardust.”
He paused for a moment, then added, "That’s what you are, Mom. A supernova.” I laughed it off at first, the way we sometimes do when children say something unexpectedly profound. But later that night, his words stayed with me.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that maybe he was right.
He had seen moments in my life where pressure built up and I fought my way through it to make the best of the situation. What he hadn’t seen, though, was all the pressure that had built long before he came along.
Life has a way of testing us. It takes us on journeys we never expected—some stressful, some beautiful, and sometimes both at the same time.
As I reflected on the experiences I had been through and the things I had accomplished despite them, I began to realize something important.
Every challenge we face shapes us. Every struggle molds us into who we are becoming. That realization is what inspired me to write this book.
Inside these pages, you will find reflections on life experiences, inspirational thoughts, and journal prompts designed to help you recognize the strength that exists within you—even during adversity.
But we have the ability to overcome obstacles and pursue greatness—whatever that may look like in our own lives.True greatness is not defined by the expectations of the world around us. It is defined by the standards we set for ourselves, guided by our dreams, our goals, and our purpose.
My hope is that this book will encourage you, strengthen you, and remind you that even in life’s most difficult seasons, your light is still there.
Thank you for being here and for sharing this journey with me.
